Esther Choi

Internship period: June 4 to July 27, 2012

These past two months at Kim & Bae have truly been invaluable. As a student majoring in International Relations, coming into the firm was like entering a completely foreign land.

Consequently, each experience was novel and made a lasting impact. Learning how to complete each task was like taking my first baby steps into the professional world, and I am extremely grateful for the attorneys and paralegals who took the time to guide me through everything.

That being said, though the work itself was enlightening and essential to litigation processes, the true profundity came with observing and interacting with the Kim & Bae attorneys and paralegals. Everyone had experiences to share and wisdom to impart. Being able to truly sit down and speak with (or even just being able to listen to) individuals who have gone through the process and are well down the path— that was the crux of my internship.

Though my experience here was meant to be professional, it went far beyond. I learned that every word a person utters and every character written holds significant weight. I learned about interactions and relationships and, more importantly, how imperative it is to maintain them. I was told about life and human nature and everything in between. I’ve gained something important over the time that I’ve been here, and I know the mark will remain, ingrained in my mind for a while. So thank you, Kim & Bae.

I truly appreciated this opportunity, and I hope that someday, I will be able to return in kind.
